The Benn Conservancy – Learning from nature…
Welcome to the Benn…
History
In the fall of 1994, the Rosholt School District agreed to lease 23
acres of land from Dr. Jim Benn and his sister Louise Bernard.
This wooded area, named the Benn Conservancy, serves as a resource for
outdoor education and a walking trail for community members. It
offers an excellent opportunity to observe nature. There are
benches and a shelter picnic area for those who wish to stop and enjoy
their outing.
Classroom Uses
Rosholt’s students use the Benn Conservancy for both classroom and
recreational purposes. Science classes study topics relating to
ecology, soils, botany, zoology and water quality. Other students
simply enjoy being able to take a walking break from the rigors of
school.
Community Uses
Spring, summer and fall visitors can enjoy a nature walk, view
wildlife, run on the trails or have a picnic. Winter activities
include snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
How can I help?
If you like to contribute to this project with financial aid or by
volunteering time, please contact Rosholt High School at 715-677-4541.
